If you’re interested in purchasing a used Cayman GT4, there are several reasons you should consider a 4.0-liter flat-six engine. This engine offers a high horsepower while meeting current emissions and noise regulations. It also produces excellent torque.
The 4.0-liter flat-six engine is similar to the Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and 911 GT3. According to a Porsche press release, the unit is loosely based on the 3.0-liter turbo engine found in the 911 Carrera. GT division head ANDREAS PREUNINGER stated that only a small portion of the engine is carried over.
When the 911 arrived, Porsche had to downsize its engine to meet CO2 emissions regulations. Instead of a V8 engine, the company used a flat-four engine for the 982 models. This engine was also more efficient than the V6. The new engine will be used in the 982 generations of Porsche vehicles until at least 2023.
